Mantel clock Case PHSL : 161 We have a substantial number of objects made by Streetly Manufacturing Compnay some of them modern in feel and others, like this example, more traditional. We want to know who designed this elegant clock and when. Perhaps the mould was made in emulation of a wooden verson of the design? Follow the chase here: http://www.10most.org.uk/artefact/mantel-clock.

Let's give this one last push. Streetly Manufacturing Company was purchased by British Cyanide Company in 1929 which changed its name to British Industrial Plastics in 1936. There is masses about these companies on the web. Please see what a bit of surfing brings up. For example, it would be useful to know if the lettering SMC suggests that this was taken from a mould made before the British Cyanide take over. Alternatively can you find a Streetly local history society that might be able to help?
